Pablow The Blowfish

Miley Cyrus

Music is one of my loves. Recently in an interview I was asked what my favourite genre of music was, and I couldn’t answer the question. Depending on my mood or time of day it could be an array of genres, and after watching last night’s MTV VMAs hosted by Miley Cyrus I can now add Miley’s music to my eclectic taste. Wait, wait..keep reading I know you may be thinking why? At the conclusion of the show, she dropped her album and gave it away for free. So I headed off to listen to the album and wow it’s certainly a musical departure for her. Miley’s days of being that cute Hannah Montana character are long gone and she’s exercising her artist freedom and presenting her current view of the world through this album. She’s taking a blank canvas and painting it however she wishes to paint it. The album title Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz sounds quirky yet there is meaning behind it. She has a big open heart for animals and after losing some of her pets in a short period time, she used that loss as inspiration for this album. It’s provocative yes and at the same time relatable as in the song Sunrise, The Floyd Song about the loss of her dog Floyd. Upon his passing, she tweeted “I don’t wanna say it because I don’t want it to be real…but my precious baby Floyd has passed away I am broken”. Another song she wrote was about her blowfish Pablow. The video below was recorded live and shows how deeply she loves her pets and how wounded she still is by their absence from her life. Underneath all of her crazy, fun, and wild costumes is someone who shares the same love for animals as the rest of us and as we often say don’t judge a book by its cover, just turn the page to reveal the story.
