It takes lots of balls to raise money for animals in need, golf balls that is and that’s exactly what I did with my partner in fundraising crime Pam Webb. Pam is the founder of Rockin 4 Rescues which is now a newly formed 501c3 and together with Vegas Rock Dog Radio© we cooked up another fun event. Pam and I have hosted many events together raising money for rescues and causes. This time we raised money for rescue spay/neuters and Bailey Chairs for dogs suffering from megaeosophagus.
Las Vegas where we reside is at the very least is like living on the sun in the Summer months and everyone enjoys an indoor event. Pam came up with the title “Life’s Too Short For Sweaty Balls” indoor golf tournament. Not being a golfer myself I am sure that is an official golfing term.
It’s never easy find event spaces and our lovely friend and animal lover Dorothy Scarringe and her husband Paul of GoLow Golf Indoor Driving Range was ever so generous in offering us the use of her place for our fundraiser. Go Low Golf boasts twelve bays and a large space in the back for event set up.
We gathered friends, family, and supporters of animal rescue to either spectate or play in the tournament. For a mere $10 spectators got to eat, drink, shop, participate in raffles, and enjoy the live music of Omega Brown. Omega is Dorothy’s brother, don’t you just love it when you can call on your family members to help you raise money for animals.
Golfers paid $30 for a single or $100 for a team of four and experienced the same as spectators with the addition of golf swag buckets and a chance at prizes for the winning team.
No event of ours goes without a fantastic red carpet, in fact ours was green and Las Vegas’ red carpet photographer Ira Kuzma donated his time to capture the festivities.
Eddie Webb MC’d the entire evening making announcements and explaining the reason for our fundraiser. Each fundraiser we host benefits at different rescue or cause and this time we were focused on providing rescues with spay/neuters and purchasing Bailey Chairs for dogs suffering from Megaeosophagus.
Pam and I have a circle of friends who are always there for us when it comes to donating to our raffles, auctions, sponsorships and vendor opportunities, rescue representatives, and volunteer positions.
We want to thank the following people for being an important part of our event. Dorothy and Paul Scaringe and the staff of GoLow Golf Driving Range, Living The Dream home builders, Balboa Pizza, Marnie Marano of Altitude Color Technologies, Las Vegas Pet Scene, The Honest Kitchen, Kathy and Craig Patterson of Barking Dogs, Sandy Dillion of Dogs ID Tagged, Rob Mees for donating a racetrack experience package, Nancy Boucher of Crownz and Skullz, Sandy Goddard of Xander Business Group Inc., Alicia Halloran Animal Communicator at Healing Habitat, Dawn Tuer and Lynn Weber of Lacquered Up Nail Lounge, Rick Vierkandt of Bark Gallery, House of Blues, Steve Avalos of BMW Motorcycles of Las Vegas, Rowena Phillips of Party Lite Candles, Carls Jr of Las Vegas, Jennifer Day of Hair of The Dog, Joni Akselrad of Lulu’s Doggy Salon and Spa, Regina Harmon of Southern Nevada Beagle Rescue Foundation, Sam Smashington of the Las Vegas Hot Diggity Dachshund Club and Rescue, Ira and Marie Kuzma of Ira Kuzma Photos, Jen and Bruce Henderson of No Kill Las Vegas for showing their support, Nova, James and Taylor, and our lovely volunteers Sam Raymond and Tracy Barnes, Renae Egan-Williams, and Pam’s niece Amanda Hudson who flew in for the event.
We had a special surprise planned for the evening where we asked any known rescues to come up to the mic in order for us to surprise them each with a $100 cheque. We’ve been encouraging rescues to attend all of our events as a way of showing support to the other rescues and to grow their network of supporters. In this case it proved it was worth showing up to get a $100 cheque for your rescue.
For those who could not attend we Periscoped periodically throughout the event with special appearances by Will Edwards of The Will Edwards Show and Andy Walmsley of AWE, famed TV set designer.
The night concluded with prize giving for the winning and losing teams, yes you can win when you’re the worst team.

As of this very moment we’re talking about our next fundraiser…we’ve not quite recovered from this one but the animals in need don’t have time for us to wait around. Please subscribe to my blog or like our pages Rockin 4 Rescues and Vegas Rock Dog Radio© to receive updates on our next fundraiser, we’d hate for you to miss out on all the fun we have all while helping animals.
