A Novice’s Guide To Raw Feeding, Darwin’s DNA Project, Well Behaved European Dogs, and A Hybrid Bird Found In The Amazon.
I’m covering a few topics on today’s show.
A Novice’s Guide To Raw Feeding ~ Kimberly Morris-Gauthier
Darwin’s Dogs ~ The DNA Project
At Darwin’s Dogs, they are following the pawprints of canine evolution in studying how the dog genome has changed between ancient wolves and our beloved companions and work partners or today. If we learn how genetics shapes behaviour we will have new insight into psychiatric and neurological diseases in dogs and people.
We have been brainstorming ways of allowing our participants to contribute financially. We are committed to keeping the Darwin’s Dogs project free to anyone who is willing to participate, but with the cost of the genotyping this means we currently have to pick-and-chose which dogs to genotype based on the grant funding support we can receive.
Do European Dogs Behave Better?
RECENTLY, I VISITED AMERICAN FRIENDS IN the UK who had moved from Dallas to London’s Kensington South. Since relocating, they had adopted a cat and were considering getting a puppy. However, after reviewing their previous dog experiences, they realized that the dogs they raised had not been nearly as well behaved as the dogs they saw in their new city.
Hybrid Bird Species Discovered In The Amazon For The First Time
A species of bird first described in 1957, but then not seen again until its rediscovery 45 years later, is even more mysterious than previously thought. It turns out that the golden-crowned manakin – a small, vivid green bird with a yellow noggin – is actually the result of a hybridization event between two other species of manakin birds.
